Understanding Etsy US Seller Fees

Understanding Etsy seller fees is essential for accurately calculating your profit. Etsy charges several types of fees for listing items, processing payments, and completing sales. If you use Etsy Payments (required for most US sellers), these fees are automatically deducted from your revenue and displayed in your Payment account.

Types of Etsy Seller Fees (US)

Etsy charges multiple fees when you sell an item, including listing fees, transaction fees, payment processing fees, and optional advertising costs. Here’s a complete breakdown of Etsy fees in the United States:

Additional Fees and Considerations

In addition to standard Etsy seller fees, there are a few other costs and factors that may affect your total expenses:

  • Set-Up Fee – Etsy may charge a one-time, non-refundable fee when opening your shop. The amount varies by location and is shown during the setup process.
  • Currency Conversion Fee – If your listing currency differs from your Payment account currency, Etsy charges a 2.5% conversion fee based on the current market rate.
  • Sales Tax – Etsy may automatically collect and remit sales tax on your behalf for certain US orders. This does not affect your listing price but may be included in payment processing calculations.

Managing Your Etsy Payment Account

Your Payment account tracks all your sales, fees, and taxes in one place. If you’re enrolled in Etsy Payments, all fees are automatically deducted from your sales before funds are deposited into your bank account.

If your balance becomes negative at the end of the month, Etsy will notify you and the outstanding amount will be due on the first day of the following month.
